Marine police sergeant rescues yacht crew near Fambridge

A sergeant from Essex Police Marine Unit rescued a crew from a yacht that ran aground on the River Crouch today.

The incident is understood to have happened this afternoon (Saturday, 29 May) close to Fambridge.

With pictures showing the sergeant rowing the crew to safety, a post on the Twitter account of the marine unit (@EPMarine) based at Burnham-on-Crouch, read: "Fantastic work from our Sergeant today rescuing the crew from a yacht that went aground on the River Crouch near #Fambridge.

"Definitely earned his stripes!"
