There have been no candidates step up for election to Burnham-on-Crouch Town Council - leaving the two North Ward seats vacant.

A decision will now be made by the town council on 'co-opting' people into the roles.

Co-option is the process by which the town council selects a new councillor. It is is done through an agenda item at a monthly town council meeting. A process for co-option is in place designed to demonstrate that it is fair and equitable.

The town council's full co-option policy can be viewed by using the link here.

It should be pointed out that these seats are completely separate from the Essex County Council elections that will still go ahead with a number of candidates, as will the election for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) on Thursday, 6 May.

Full lists of candidates in the 6 May local elections are now available on the Maldon District Council website at the link here.

Maldon Nub News will bring you more details of all the candidates in all the 6 May local elections in the district in our ongoing election coverage.
