A group which supports people living with dementia is restarting its monthly meetings in the Dengie for the first time since the pandemic began.

The Dengie D-Caf was set up to promote and maintain a good quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers in the Dengie.

The group usually meets on a Wednesday each month, but had to suspend these meetings due to the pandemic.

Organisers have been keen to restart the meetings as soon as it was safe to do so, and have now set a date for their return - Wednesday 27 October.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the group said: "New members are always welcome.

"The venue is fully accessible.

"If you would like more information, including how to find us, or to have an informal chat before attending, please contact us on 01621 783946."

While the group had to suspend its monthly meetings, organisers remained busy over the pandemic by keeping in regular phone contact with existing members, continuing to provide mutual support and friendship and signposting people to different services as appropriate.

Its meeting this month will begin at 11am and end at 1pm, and will be held in the hall of All Saint's Church on Ferry Road in Creeksea.

The group's next two meetings will be at the same venue on Wednesday 10 November and Wednesday 8 December - from 11am to 1pm.
