Are you passionate about the town? Burnham-on-Crouch Town Council has launched an appeal for new councillors

BURNHAM-On-Crouch Town Council has launched an urgent appeal for people to step forward as potential councillors.

The call to action comes after nobody stood for election in May to two vacant seats in north ward.

As other councillors have left for personal reasons, the situation is now urgent in order for the town authority to function properly - and with this in mind, people can apply to be 'co-opted' onto the town council as councillors - so not needing t go through an election process at this stage.

New Mayor, Councillor Vanessa Bell, said: "We would really urge people who are passionate about the town and its success going forward to apply.

"The community has been through a terrible year and this is the time for building back and looking forward to a brighter future."

Mayor Bell added that she is hopeful that people with an interest in the environment and its protection might step forward to try to make a difference to Burnham's future.

People wishing to apply should live, work or be landlords in the town. There is more guidance on the criteria online and applying is as simple as completing the online application form, available at the Burnham-on-Crouch website using the link here.
