Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI was among the emergency services that rescued eight people from the water in North Fambridge yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 24 August).

The South Woodham Ferrers (SWF) Coastguard Rescue team, East of England Ambulance crews, BASICS Essex, a Coastguard Rescue helicopter and Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI were called at 4.10pm to reports of people in the River Crouch.

In a statement on Facebook, SWF Coastguard Rescue said: "Once on scene, the team started to conduct a shoreline search from the yacht station, as the casualties were located by Burnham RNLI on the seawall near to the Fambridge Yacht station."

The teams recovered the eight people from the water by transporting them to the Yacht Station in a lifeboat, where they were helped by coastguard officers and waiting ambulances.

They were then assessed by ambulance staff on the scene.
